Friends and Family CPR
The AHA’s Family & Friends® CPR Course a video-based, classroom course intended for anyone who wants to learn CPR and prefers to learn in an Instructor-led or facilitated group environment. This course is for people who do not need a course completion card for a job or other requirements. Family & Friends CPR is ideal for community groups, parents, grandparents, caregivers, schools and students, and others interested in learning how to save a life. For more information click here.
HeartSaver First Aid with CPR and AED
The AHA's Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is a classroom, Instructor-led course designed to prepare students to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) use in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid skills demonstration and a CPR and AED skills test, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years. This course takes approximately 6 hours to complete. The cost is $75.00/person. Group discounts may be available.
HeartSaver Pediatric First Aid with CPR and AED
The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 U.S. states. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers child/infant CPR, child/infant AED, child/infant choking, and pediatric first aid. Adult modules in CPR, AED and choking are optional. Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid skills demonstration and a CPR and AED skills test, students receive a Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years. This course takes approximately 6 hours to complete. The cost is $75.00/person. Group discounts may be available.
BLS for HCP CPR
The AHA’s BLS Provider Course reflects science and education from the 2015 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid skills demonstration and a CPR and AED skills test, students receive a BLS for Health Care Providers course completion card, valid for two years. This course takes approximately 4 hours to complete. The cost is $50.00/person. Group discounts may be available.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support- Recert
Medical professionals who respond to cardiovascular emergencies in and out of the hospital enhance their treatment knowledge and skills through the AHA’s ACLS training courses. AHA’s ACLS offerings highlight the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. They also cover airway management and related pharmacology. This is a recertification class. To be eligible for this course you must have a current ACLS card and take/submit the course pretest. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive an ACLS course completion card, valid for two years. This course takes approximately 4 hours to complete. The cost is $100.00/person. Group discounts may be available. Initial certification classes are not taught on a regular basis but may be requested for groups of 4 or more.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support- Recert
The AHA’s PALS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This classroom, Instructor-led course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. This is a recertification class. To be eligible for this course you must have a current PALS card and take/submit the course pretest Upon successful completion of the course, students receive an PALS course completion card, valid for two years. This course takes approximately 4 hours to complete. The cost is $100.00/person. Group discounts may be available. Initial certification classes are not taught on a regular basis but may be requested for groups of 4 or more.
EMT and Paramedic Refresher Training
Following the guidelines of Arkansas Department of Health and the National Registry, refresher training is taught over a 3-day period. The curriculum meets the requirements of all National and state components of the NCCP for all EMS licensure levels.
Advanced Medical Life Support
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) is the gold standard of education for emergency medical assessment and treatment. Endorsed by the National Association of EMS Physicians, AMLS emphasizes the use of the AMLS Assessment Pathway, a systematic tool for assessing and managing common medical conditions with urgent accuracy. Students learn to recognize and manage common medical crises through realistic case-based scenarios that challenge students to apply their knowledge to highly critical patients. The course emphasizes the use of scene size-up, history, interactive group discussion on potential treatment strategies, and physical exam to systematically rule out and consider possibilities and probabilities in treating patients’ medical crises. AMLS is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse anesthetists and physicians. AMLS is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT. AMLS is a 2-day, 16-hour course. You must attend all lectures, participate in skills scenarios, and pass an end of course exam to obtain the 4-year certification.
Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support
NAEMT's Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care. The mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence in trauma patient management by all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care. PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons' Committee on Trauma. The Committee provides the medical direction and content oversight for the PHTLS program. PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care and decrease mortality. The program is based on a philosophy stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the belief that, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care. The course utilizes the internationally recognized PHTLS textbook and covers the following topics: PHTLS is the global gold standard in prehospital trauma education and is taught in 64 countries. PHTLS is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians, and other prehospital providers. PHTLS is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT. PHTLS is a 2-day, 16-hour course. You must attend all lectures, participate in skills scenarios, and pass an end of course exam to obtain the 4-year certification.
Geriatric Education for EMS
GEMS provides EMS practitioners at all levels with the skills and knowledge to address the unique medical, social, environmental and communications challenges of older adults. Developed by NAEMT, in partnership with the American Geriatrics Society, GEMS empowers EMS practitioners to help improve medical outcomes and quality of life for geriatric patients. GEMS features case-based lectures, live action video, hands-on skill stations, simulation and small group scenarios to fully engage students in the learning experience. GEMS covers the following topics: MEMS offers the 1-day, 8-hour core course which is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, emergency medical responders, nurses, physician assistants and physicians. GEMS is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT.
Tactical Combat Casualty Care-AC
Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) is created by the U.S. Department of Defense Committee on TCCC (Co-TCCC) to teach evidence-based, life-saving techniques and strategies for providing the best trauma care on the battlefield. NAEMT conducts TCCC courses as specified by the Co-TCCC’s guidelines and curriculum. Two types of TCCC courses are offered:
- TCCC-MP (TCCC for Medical Personnel) is a 2-day classroom course for military medical personnel including medics, corpsmen, and pararescue personnel deploying in support of combat operations.
- TCCC-AC (TCCC for All Combatants) is a 1-day classroom course for non-medical military personnel and includes first responder skills appropriate for soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.
The foundational medical science upon which TCCC is based is published in NAEMT’s PHTLS Military textbook in which the military chapters are written by the Co-TCCC. TCCC, as offered by NAEMT, is the only TCCC course endorsed by the Joint Trauma System and the American College of Surgeons. NAEMT’s TCCC courses are accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT. TCCC is a 2-day, 16-hour course. You must attend all lectures, participate in skills scenarios, and pass an end of course exam to obtain the 4-year certification.
Tactical Combat Casualty Care-MP
NAEMT's Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) teaches EMS practitioners and other prehospital providers how to respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment. It is designed to decrease preventable deaths in a tactical situation. The course presents the three phases of tactical care:
- Direct Threat Care that is rendered while under attack or in adverse conditions.
- Indirect Threat Care that is rendered while the threat has been suppressed, but may resurface at any point.
- Evacuation Care that is rendered while the casualty is being evacuated from the incident site.
TECC is a 2-day, 16-hour course. You must attend all lectures, participate in skills scenarios, and pass an end of course exam to obtain the 4-year certification.
NAEMT’s EMS Safety course teaches students how to protect themselves and their patients while on the job. It promotes a culture of safety and helps reduce the number of on-the-job fatalities and injuries. EMS Safety is the only national, comprehensive safety course for EMS practitioners. Its interactive format features real-life case studies and compelling discussions on current safety issues, and provides participants with a forum to share their own experiences. Critical thinking stations help build participants’ risk assessment and decision-making skills.
Participants are taught:
- To identify and manage the hazards that can appear during daily tasks, from offensive drivers to violent encounters to chronic stress.
- Practical strategies that they can apply in the field, from situational awareness to defensive driving to verbal deflection.
- How to strengthen their resiliency skills in order to combat both chronic and critical incident stress.
EMS Safety is offered as an 8-hour classroom course and is appropriate for all levels of EMS practitioners, other medical professionals providing prehospital patient care, and EMS supervisors and administrators. Students who successfully complete the course receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card good for 4 years. EMS Safety is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT.
Principles of Ethics and Personal Leadership
Principles of Ethics and Personal Leadership (PEPL) is a 16-hour course that provides EMS and Mobile Healthcare (MHC) practitioners at all levels with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively interact with patients and their families, other medical personnel, co-workers, supervisors and community residents at large. The course covers topics and skills in the following areas:
- Personal and professional values and beliefs
- Understanding the concept of "service beyond self
- Personal responsibility for ethical decision making
- Strategies for conflict resolution
- Serving as an ambassador for the profession, agency, and community
Through course presentation, dialogue, and learning activities, including written and video case studies, students will explore the importance of ethics and personal leadership, identify their leadership roles in civic life as individuals, family members, professionals, and members of the community, and practice the skills important to the exercise of personal, ethical leadership. This course is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, other mobile healthcare practitioners, and emergency responders. PEPL is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT. Upon successful completion of this course, students receive a certificate of completion, wallet card good for 4 years, and 16 hours of CAPCE credit.
