MEMS to Celebrate National EMS Week Week to be filled with celebrations of service and shows of gratitude
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 16, 2022) – Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services (MEMS) will celebrate the 47th annual National EMS Week each day this week.
“We are excited to celebrate and support our wonderful team members during National EMS Week,” said Greg Thompson, executive director of MEMS.
MEMS employees will be treated to free meals and other fun activities each day. Meals are generously provided by CHI Heart Institute/STEMI, Cabot Emergency Hospital, Baptist Health, UAMS, and MEMS.
On Wednesday, May 18 at 9:30 a.m. the annual Parade of Lights will occur. The parade will feature emergency responders from across Arkansas. It will begin on the east side of Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium. This event will feature the new “Lambulance.” Purchased personally by MEMS EMT Alan Goss and his wife Hannah, the Lamborghini features a recognizable wrap similar to MEMS vehicles. The vehicle will be funded by the Goss’s and will be utilized to support recruitment and awareness of the organization at area events.
On Thursday, May 19, teams from MEMS and UAMS will play dodgeball. The game will occur at MEMS 7th Street location from 5 to 7 p.m.There will be an additional costume contest among participants.
