Family & Friends CPR

About Family & Friends CPR

Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services is dedicated to do all we can to improve the health of the people in the communities we serve. The Friends and Family CPR Program is part of our growing Community Outreach effort to teach members of our communities what to do when faced with a serious emergency. Being able and willing to immediately begin CPR when you are with someone who suffers a cardiac arrest can save their life. In fact, early CPR is a key factor in determining survival and quality of life after cardiac arrest. MEMS is offering “Friends and Family CPR” classes in an effort to improve survival chances of those we serve. This training is American Heart Association approved and sponsored. It offers education in the techniques of CPR that can be taught in a 2-hour class using mannequins. This class also includes how to use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). This is not a certification class. This class is low stress and is offered to anyone interested. No medical experience is necessary.

The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. This course is ideal for schools and students, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life.
