Special Operations Response Team
Also known as "The Mad Hatters", SORT is an elite team of EMTs and Paramedics specializing in high-risk emergency response. Trained in HAZMAT, Swift Water Rescue, Mass Casualty Incidents, High-Impact Incidents, and Search & Rescue (SAR), team members go beyond traditional EMS roles to provide lifesaving support in extreme conditions.

In addition to maintaining all certifications for their EMS license, team members must maintain “Operations” level status in each rescue discipline with at least one rescue discipline at the “Technician” level. SORT is instrumental in training new employees on HAZMAT safety and responds to a variety of incidents including but not limited to:
Hazardous Materials Incidents (HAZMAT)
Swift Water Rescue Incidents (WRT)
Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI)
High-impact incidents Search and Rescue (SAR)*
*Members of this team are eligible for selection to Arkansas Task Force One (AR-TF-1) as USAR "Medical Specialists.
